Otterbein University honors Safex president with alumni award

Safex is proud to announce that its president and owner, Dianne Grote Adams, was honored by her alma mater, Otterbein University, with a Special Achievement Award.

The Special Achievement Award, established in 1966, recognizes excellence and high professional achievement by an individual in his or her field of endeavor. The award is granted to an Otterbein alumnus whose contributions to his or her field have elevated their professional industry at a local or regional level and/or the organization where the recipient works.

Grote Adams is among five Otterbein University alumni from across the country who received their awards during the 2018 Otterbein Alumni Awards Soiree on Apr. 21. Otterbein has honored it graduates and their accomplishments for more than 50 years.

“It’s such an incredible honor to be recognized by my alma mater,” said Grote Adams. “I owe much of my success to this institution, which has helped guide me and shape me into a passionate and hardworking professional. I am so grateful for my experiences at Otterbein University, and I’m thrilled to accept this award.”

Grote Adams is a board-certified industrial hygienist, board-certified safety professional and a certified professional environmental auditor in health and safety. In 2017, she received a Distinguished Fellow Award from the American Industrial Hygiene Association®. Dianne was a finalist for the 2015 NAWBO Columbus Visionary Award. In 2014, Safex was awarded the Conway Family Business Center Community Engagement Award. In 2013, Safex received the Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service. She received the Central Ohio Local Section of the AIHA “Outstanding Industrial Hygiene Award” in 1992 and the “Industrial Hygiene Award of Excellence” in 2003.

A member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), Grote Adams also is a member of the American Academy of Industrial Hygiene (AAIH) and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). She completed a three-year term as a member of the AIHA Board of Directors in 2014 and currently serves on the AIHA Conference Program Committee through 2019. She also has been involved with the AIHA Local Section Council, the AIHA PSTFII Task Force, the All-Ohio Safety Congress and the Central Ohio AIHA. She also has served on the advisory committee for both the Ohio University Industrial Hygiene Program and The Ohio State University Environmental Health Science Advisory.

Board as well as the Otterbein Alumni Council. She is currently serving a four-year term as a member of the board of Cristo Rey Columbus.
